Fabian de Vallenti Norberto

Diné

Fabian de Vallenti Norberto (1960-1994) was a Diné potter who appears to have mastered the Santa Clara process of turning pots black and decorating them with sgraffito designs. I thought his work was really good.

Like most Diné potters, there's almost no information available about him. But it seems he produced most of his pottery while living in Albuquerque. He died at a young age, victim of a drive-by shooting along a street in Albuquerque, just as he was doing his best work.
