Mauro Quezada

The youngest son of Consolacion Quezada, Mauro Quezada is also a potter from Mata Ortiz. He started making and painting ollas when he was about seven years old. He's now considered to be one of the best potters in Mata Ortiz.

Mauro does the whole package: forms, sand, polishes, paints and fires his own vessels. He specializes in large white pots with fantastically detailed polychrome Paquimé designs in red and black. His designs "move" much like his uncle Juan's do but Mauro's are different in that he often fills the open space between major elements with dots and lines.
