Desideria Montoya

Desideria Montoya (1889-1982) was a potter from San Ildefonso Pueblo. She was the sister of the significantly more famous Maria Martinez. As much as she may have been overshadowed by her sister, Desideria was recognized as a significant and outstanding potter from the time of the 1909 demonstration of pottery making at the Museum of New Mexico with her sisters Maria and Anna plus Ramona Gonzales and Tonita Roybal.
