Reycita Trujillo

San Juan Pueblo/Ohkay Owingeh

Born in 1900, Reycita Trujillo one of the eight women who restarted the making of San Juan pottery at San Juan Pueblo in the 1930s.

While Reycita would coil, shape, polish and carve her pots, she often had her husband, Juan Hilario Trujillo, do the incising that is characteristic of San Juan pottery.

Sadly, Reycita passed on in 1944, cutting short a promising career.
