Jennie Laate

Jennie Laate was born into Acoma Pueblo and learned the Acoma methods of making pottery as she grew up. Then she married a man from Zuni and moved there. She learned the Zuni way of making pottery and, as the art teacher at Zuni High School, she taught many pueblo students the traditional way, too. However, the school had an electric kiln and her students learned to use that rather than use the traditional outdoor firing methods.
