Arthur and Hilda Coriz

Santo Domingo Pueblo

Hilda Coriz was a sister of award-earning potter Robert Tenorio and she learned the traditional art from him. Arthur learned by watching his wife and brother-in-law.

At first, Arthur and Hilda were making the pots and Robert doing the designs and painting. Then Arthur got into the painting aspect and within two years, he was doing all the designing and painting for Hilda and himself.

After a while they became full-time potters and regular participants in the Santa Fe Indian Market, earning numerous awards between 1983 and 1998. Then Arthur died in 1998. Hilda followed him in 2007.

They signed their pieces: Arthur & Hilda Coriz, Kewa.
