Evelyn Cheromiah

Laguna Pueblo

Evelyn Cheromiah was the primary force behind a Laguna pottery revival that began in the 1970s. Working with Nancy Winslow, an Anglo woman from Albuquerque, Evelyn secured a grant to teach 2 pottery making courses at the Laguna Pueblo Community Center. At the time, Evelyn was likely the last potter working at Laguna. Most of today's Laguna potters trace their craft lineage back to her as her two courses were very popular.
