Chris Martinez

Chris Martinez is a traditional potter from Santa Clara. He learned the traditional art from his grandmother, Flora Naranjo, his mother, Barbara Martinez, and his sister, Vickie Martinez. His pottery tends to be larger than that of most Santa Clara potters these days.

After working as a firefighter for the US Forest Service for more than 20 years, Chris retired a few years ago from being an active firefighter. He does still lead firefighter training classes for the Forest Service.
