Melvin Moquino was born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1966. He learned the traditional art of making pottery from his father, Corn Moquino. Marvin Moquino is his brother.
Melvin makes mostly black ware, plates, bowls, wedding vases, seed pots. He decorates them with sgraffito designs and reheats a bit to add some color. He etches a lot of butterflies, hummingbirds, feathers, flowers and geometrics.
