Efrain Lucero

Mata Ortiz

Efrain Lucero is a potter from the Mexican village of Mata Ortiz. He learned how to make pots in the late 1980s from Juan Andrew, his brother-in-law. These days he mostly produces polychrome pottery using a graphite black clay body in modern shapes and old Paquimé and Mimbres-Revival designs. Sometimes he collaborates with his wife, Elicena Cota.

It seems he has a son named Efrain Lucero Jr. who is also producing pottery.
