Eligio Ortiz

Mata Ortiz

Eligio Ortiz is the son of Eduardo Chevo Ortiz. Eligio learned to make pottery directly from one of the best of the early potters of Mata Ortiz. Like his father, Eligio appears to enjoy pushing out bulges and ribs in his pieces before painting matte geometric designs on them to make black-on-black jars and seed pots.
