Mata Ortiz

Gloria Hernandez is a potter from Mata Ortiz, Mexico. She learned to make pottery by trial-and-error, back in the early 1980s with sister-in-law Socorro Sandoval de Silveira. A lot of her work incorporates designs from both the Mimbres and Paquimé cultures.

She sometimes signs her pieces: Gloria Hdez.
