Vernida Polacca

Hopi

Born into the Tewa Corn Clan in 1955, Vernida Polacca is the daughter of Harold and Alice Polacca. Among her siblings are Clinton Polacca, Diana Polacca, Clement Polacca, Harold Polacca, Jr., Reva Polacca Ami and Marvin Polacca. Vernida learned to make pottery from her grandmother, Fannie Nampeyo.

Vernida seems to like to work with yellow ware and paint decorations like the migration pattern, butterflies, moths, bat wings, weather symbols and bird elements.
