Born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1950, Billy Cain was the son of Mary and Willie Cain and grandson of Christina Naranjo. Tina Diaz and Linda and Joy Cain were his sisters, Warren Cain his brother. Like them he learned to make pottery by watching and working with their mother and grandmother as he grew up.
Billy was known for his creativity in shapes and designs. He made both redware and blackware, traditional and non-traditional jars, bowls and plates. He passed on in 2006.
