Samuel Quezada

Mata Ortiz

I've only seen a few pieces from Samuel Quezada and haven't found much info about him other than that he's the son of Reynalda Quezada and Simon Lopez. Hector Ortega is his brother-in-law.

Most pieces I have seen from Samuel were of the mixed-clay type. Jars with formed spiral ribs are a demonstration of the plasticity of the clay in the Mata Ortiz area. His jars are thin and surprisingly light, too.
